Сюжетная линия дорамы «Записки детектива» рассказывает зрителям, как живут студенты университета Гаолин. В центре сюжета ребята на втором курсе. Ся Цзяоань — вокалистка айдол-группы, которая не может представить свою жизнь без музыкального творчества. Ми Кака — симпатичный парень, друг Ся с самого детства. Довольно часто главные герои абсолютно невольно попадают в курьезные и порой даже опасные ситуации. Но к этому они привыкли. Иногда молодые люди оказывают помощь даже полиции. Можно сказать, Ся и Ми играют в детективов. И эта игра становится опасной в тот момент, когда главные герои оказываются в статусе свидетелей убийства. Подобных сцен они никогда не видели.
